Thomas P. Lavin, CFA

President and CEO

Mr. Lavin is the founder of Broadview Investors, LLC and currently serves as its President and CEO. He has over twenty-five years of real estate investment experience through the management of funds and accounts on behalf of institutional and high net worth investors.

Prior to founding Broadview, he was Managing Director and co-founder of the Real Estate Group at Fidelity Investments, the largest mutual fund company in the United States. During his fifteen years at Fidelity he built and managed a dedicated team of investment officers and analysts along with capital markets, asset management and legal and finance professionals that focused exclusively on the investment and management of fully discretionary private equity real estate funds sponsored by Fidelity, on behalf of its institutional clients. Mr. Lavin developed the team’s investment strategy which focused on investing in private and public market real estate transactions using a broad range of opportunistic strategies. These investments included purchases of distressed assets and discounted notes, equity and mezzanine financings for real estate development and rehabilitation projects, restructurings and financings of public and private real estate operating companies, and direct property acquisitions.

Prior to joining Fidelity, Mr. Lavin was Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at Liberty Real Estate Group Inc., a subsidiary of Liberty Financial Companies. During his ten years at Liberty, he served as a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, and his responsibilities encompassed investment acquisition and analysis, equity and debt placements, product development, and portfolio management.

He was with Coopers & Lybrand in its audit practice for five years prior to joining Liberty Real Estate Group.

Mr. Lavin earned a Bachelor of Science with honors from Boston College and has earned designations as a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Public Accountant. His current professional affiliations include the Urban Land Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society.
